If you only knew the mental push that was needed to take these photos! What’s so interesting is that, I was strongly considering canceling the activities planned on this day, but was motivated by this look and knowing that being surrounded by family would be a wonderful time. It was a rough week emotionally for me, I was thinking about every area in my life, and it wasn’t all positive. It’s not easy to fight off the thoughts, but it was something I had to be conscious of, or else I would continue to have low energy and stay home. In addition to emotionally feeling off, another factor is how we feel physically. What can also hinder us from not wanting to go out, is how we feel about ourselves, not having anything to wear, or noticing how our body is changing as we try on different outfit options. Be honest, has there ever been a time where you felt like nothing looked right?! That’s exactly how I feel as well at times, but the questions is this: Is it worth missing out on having a great time and creating memories with people you love?
One thing that has helped me in times like this, is keeping items readily available to heighten my excitement. What does that even mean?! 😂 Go shopping! I’m not saying to spend an incredulous amount of money on items, but it does help when you have something new and exciting to wear. I believe that you should always add items to your wardrobe, including fragrances and accessories. Shopping for an occasion, can definitely add additional stress to an already anxious mind, but keeping certain pieces around helps with the push to actually step out! This look was inspired by Primark and Victoria’s Secret. In the mall nearby, both stores are very close to each other, so I decided to check them out. I’m starting to really love Primark with their great quality selections and affordable prices! So many cute pieces for the low low!
What is the “push” exactly?
I purchased the hat and bag for less than $15, and the earrings were also just $5! When I stopped by Victoria's Secret, they were having a promotional scent event where the roll ons were $6.95 (usually $20) and the 1.7 mil fragrances were $35 (usually $60). I grabbed a few and truly loved them all, and couldn't wait for the opportunity to wear them! I love learning about new scents and fell in love with Tease Creme Cloud, love the notes of vanilla and amber, it smells absolutely amazing! Wearing a new scent or scent combo is another factor that really elevated my excitement to go out. The look came out really cute, paring the accessories with a harem one piece and crop sweater (details below!) Ahhh so finally the look is done, I smelled great, but I want to be honest that I definitely didn’t feel the best even after all of that. It was the push that allowed me to not only get dressed and add the fragrance, but also a big shift in my attitude and energy. What is the “push” exactly? For me, it’s eliminating the harsh thoughts that parade your mind, and allowing yourself to add action with interaction. Whether that is interacting with yourself or others, but some form of movement that will assist in having the will to have a great day. Really embracing that great things that can happen, vs. the anxiety that may come with overthinking. It feels really deep while in a rough place mentally, but even taking the step to shower helps. What also helped was: praying, breathing, focusing on the fun I would have with family, talking it out, andddddddddddddd knowing that I had a look and fragrance to debut haha!
Guess what? This will not be the only time we have to keep pushing. I firmly believe in taking breaks when needed, saying no at times and respecting your boundaries. However, there is something really special about simply having a good time. Freeing the mind, laughing, and being present to enjoy what life has to offer. I had a great time at the baby shower celebrating the arrival of my niece. It was beautiful to laugh, have great food, and enjoy catching up with family. I also had enough energy to spend time with my friend and her family afterwards. Overall, it was a beautiful day well spent, but what if I didn't go? I would not have been able to create this look, experience joy reserved for that day, or write this post. When you find yourself in a rough place, consider what it would look like to move from one thought to something a bit more hopeful. I saw this post below and it truly resonated with me, timing is everything. We need to try our best to embrace it wisely. Think about all of the great things that will happen, because most likely...it will.
